About Simply CBT
I am based close to the market town of Melton Mowbray and offer both online video/telephone appointments across the UK in addition to face to face sessions in a purpose- built office.
I have been involved in mental health in various capacities since 1994 and currently work as a CBT Therapist whilst still maintaining my registration as a Mental Health Nurse. My experience in the field of mental health enables me to offer individualised treatment sessions. With my practice, everyone is unique and therefore the common therapy problem of “one size fits all” does not apply.
With Simply CBT you can work toward achieving your goals in a safe and confidential environment. The first 30 -minute consultation is free and enables me to understand your needs or, if necessary, recommend another service should this be indicated.
Our beliefs and values
I want you to have the best therapeutic experience possible, and will therefore work toward achieving your goals by establishing a safe, trustworthy therapeutic relationship within which you can work to attain them. I will do this by listening to what you have to say about your situation, as you are the expert on where you want to be, and what you are like, at your best. My goal, is to give you the tools to help you to grow and teach you the skills and strategies which go along with this.
About CBT
CBT consistently shows itself to be amongst the most effective therapies for anxiety-based problems and is cited by The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as the therapy of choice for many of these disorders. It is used daily throughout the NHS psychological services.
CBT is a talking therapy but is composed of techniques and strategies which can help to maintain your mental health over time. If you prefer the idea of a more structured therapy, then this is for you. The number of sessions will vary from person to person, but over time you will build your knowledge, allowing you to understand how some of your thoughts and actions are keeping you trapped in an unhappy, threatening or turbulent place.
You will learn both cognitive and behavioural strategies (such as helping you to spot and address your unhelpful thinking and techniques addressing anxiety management) as well as more targeted strategies which help in the treatment of diagnoses such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Post Traumatic Disorder (PTSD). Being an accredited member of the BABCP means that you can trust that any intervention is evidence based and tailored for what you need. The number of sessions will vary depending on your diagnosis and how you progress, but on average range from between 6-20.
